Mahashivratri is commemorated every year as the meeting of Shiva and Shakti's energies. This Hindu festival, which commemorates Lord Shiva's marriage to Goddess Parvati, is regarded as one of the most significant. This year's auspicious event will take place on March 01, 2022.
There are three things to keep in mind, especially on Mahashivaratri.
1) Fasting 2) Waking up at night 3) Anointing with the remembrance of Lord Shiva.
Pradosha is the Maha Shivaratri evening period. During the Pradosha time, Shiva Smarana (remembering Lord Shiva) and Siva Darshan should be made a ritual.

Maha Shivaratri's Importance
Shivratri is observed every month according to the Hindu calendar. Maha Shivaratri is a Hindu festival that takes place once a year in late winter (February or March) just before summer. Maha Shivaratri literally means "auspicious night." God will perform Maha Tandavam, it is now known. On Shivaratri, one worships Lord Shiva by staying awake all night. He is provided fruits, sweets, and leaves. Fasting and chanting the Panchakshari mantra 'Om Namahshivaya' are practised by devotees.
Pandits also believe that Ashtaishwaryas can be acquired by participating in the Shivratri pujas conducted at Shiva temples.
A special worship of the four Prahar is done at the temples on this day. For worship, each Prahar has a distinct anointing. At the same time, the recitation and the appropriate offering proceed.
First Prahar Puja
Anointing and decorating are part of the first Prahar Puja Worship. Sandalwood, belpatri, and lotus flowers are used to honour the Lord. An offering of moong dal pongal is made. The Rig Veda is said to bring good fortune to those who recite it. That is, the idea that people who participate in the First Prahar Puja would be blessed with all good fortune.
Second Prahar Puja
In this puja, madhuparkam refers to anointing with sugar, milk, curd, and ghee. They are then ornamented with rose water, camphor sandalwood, and basil, and the belpatri are adorned with basil. Payasam is offered as an offering when the Yajurveda is recited. As a result, parental access is granted. The hour of Shiva Linga darshan is 12 a.m., hence this anointing is highly sacred.
Third Prahar Puja
Honey is used to anoint it, and camphor sandalwood ointment is used to garnish it. Archana, rice, and sesame with belpatri and jasmine gifts, as well as chanting the Samaveda, will bring enormous prosperity.
Fourth Prahar Puja
Abhishek using sugarcane juice and jasmine, lotus flowers, and camphor sandalwood powder for the fourth Prahar Puja Abhishek. Arrange lotus, lily, and jasmine flowers for Archana, then serve cooked rice. According to Vedic scholars, reading the Atharvana Veda creates family peace.
As a result, worshippers should fast for the whole day while meditating on Mahasiva. Devotees who are meditating on Shiva on Mahashivaratri are actually hungry. However, many individuals nowadays suffer from ailments such as high blood pressure and diabetes, and therefore only have a small breakfast. However, this is an exception.
Health is referred to as tremendous fortune. Lord Shiva, too, would not want his worshippers' health to decline. As a result, persons who suffer from such mild diseases should skip breakfast. Breakfast is an important meal of the day.
