Chandra Darshan is the first day of lunar eclipse after Amavasya (new moon day). This special day called Chandra Darshan is celebrated by seeing the moon coming the day after the Darshan of Chandra. Seeing the moon as soon as the sun sets that day is considered very unique. Those who see the moon during moon sighting believe that the lord moon will bless them with good luck.

This Margashira Sashti is also known as Subramanya Sashti or Skanda Sashti. Sashti Tithi is dedicated to Subramanya Swami. Also known as Shukla Paksha Sashthi which comes every month is called Skanda Sashti. On this day devotees fast and worship or perform Vratam to Subramanya Swami.
